How do you play the prompt engineering game?

Each scenario gives you an objective, a short situation and three complete prompts. Pick the prompt that best meets the objective with the facts you have, then press Check my prompt. The game shows which prompt fits best, highlights the detail that decides it, and explains why each other prompt falls short.

  1. Read the objective and the situation. Some situations include a small table or part of a chat.
  2. Click a prompt card to select it. You can change your choice until you check it.
  3. Read the feedback, then press Next scenario when you are ready. There is no timer.

Every answer is written and checked in advance. The game does not send your choice to an AI, and it does not claim that any prompt guarantees a correct result. It shows which prompt is the best fit for the scenario as written.

How is each answer scored?

2 pointsBest choiceMeets the objective and every constraint in the situation.
1 pointWorkable, with a gapReasonable, but misses a requirement that matters.
0 pointsPoor fitContradicts the objective, drops a key constraint or invents facts.

Each level has five scenarios, so 10 points. Score 9 or 10 for three stars, 7 or 8 for two and 5 or 6 for one. The game keeps your best score, shows your first attempt separately from practice replays, and lists your strengths and the lessons to revisit.

Play levels 1 to 3 without signup. Levels 4 to 10 are free with your email, which also brings an email when a new game is added. If you already unlocked another game on this site in the same browser, these levels open without asking again. Progress saves in this browser, so clearing browser data or switching browsers or devices can lose it.
